Happy Halloween everyone!

I’m not doing anything special this year. Just staying home by myself and watching TV this evening. Maybe I’ll have to find some really good chocolate (like Godiva! yum, yum) and munch on a few pieces tonight.

I was looking through my quilts – I knew I had a Halloween Quilt or two – and I finally found what I was looking for! Here is a photo of a Halloween quilt I made in 1999! I can’t believe I actually put a date on the back of the quilt.

I think the pattern was from a Fons & Porter book. It was so long ago (and many, many quilts ago) that I can’t remember exactly. I do remember it was a LOT of fun to piece and to quilt.

Here is a close up of the center pumpkin.

This is such a fun quilt and I do enjoy bringing it out every year and hanging it for the Halloween holiday!

One more Fall themed quilt  – This one is called Pumpkin Pile and it is one of my original patterns. (Click on any photos for a larger view. )

This quilt was so much fun to design, piece and quilt that I turned it into an online class! You can get all the details about it by Clicking Here

I did all the quilting first then did the embellishing with the pumpkin tendrils. I “thread painted” the top pumpkin tendril, couched half of the remaining tendrils and then used acrylic paint to enhance the tendrils in the bottom row of pumpkins. Below is a close up view of the bottom pumpkins with the painted and couched tendrils. Notice the brown leaves quilted in the border!

All of the instructions on how to do these embellishments (and the piecing pattern and the quilting instructions) are in the online, on demand, Pumpkin Pile video class.

There is even a table runner option with the piecing pattern. My table runner is not quilted yet, but it will be soon! I am thinking I may make a few more table runners and give them as Thanksgiving gifts (or early Christmas gifts) to my daughters and daughter in law.

I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween and may all the candy and sweets you eat have all the calories taken out of them!
