Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!

Here is my favorite quote about this day –

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

And also to show the American Spirit, here are some photos of a flag quilt made by my friend Cynthy Kram. The quilt is on display, and you can get the pattern at, the Wild Rose Quilt Shop, Orting, WA

The quilt is 59 x 37 inches. The pattern is “Old Glory” by Yellow Creek Quilt Design The red and white blocks are only 6 inches square!!!

Here is a view of the back –

I used matching thread on the light fabrics. I felt using a contrasting thread would take away from the spectacular piecing on the front of the quilt. I hope you can see the detail of the quilting from the back.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
